558. Hear, Lord, our prayer, as vows are spoken

1 Hear, Lord, our prayer, as vows are spoken
This day, before Thy throne above;
And through these lives sustain unbroken,
Their earthly, and Thy heavenly love.

2 Give them Thy joy, that earthly labours
Shall weary not as years go by,
That serving well their God and neighbours
In pleasant paths their lives may lie.

3 Give strength, so that in trial or sorrow
Their love shall ever deeper be;
And thoughts of each unknown tomorrow
May only draw them closer Thee.

4 So mould their lives to Thy commanding
That when the lamps of evening shine
They find the peace past understanding
Of those whose hearts are one with Thine.
