With hymnals from almost every American religious group & denomination, this growing hymnal collection focuses primarily on the hymnody of the American Stone-Campbell/Restoration Movement featuring Churches of Christ, Christian Churches, as well as Disciples of Christ congregations. Hymnals date back to the early 18th century and the collection is current, with a complete run of all significant hymnals in the Restoration Movement since 1882, this includes a number of the smaller, independent publishers and paperbacks that were so prevalent in the early 20th century as well. A large collection of papers & books from several key figures in the movement hymnody have been passed down through the generations into this collection. This includes books, papers, and correspondence from E.L. Jorgenson who created the most important hymnal of this movement, Great Songs of the Church which celebrates its centennial anniversary in 2021, Forrest M. McCann, James L. Jackson, and the Singing Wheeler family. A large amount of personal correspondence from major hymnwriters and compilers of hymnals from the movement such as Sanderson, Teddlie, Slater and others is found here as well.
