GEORGE CHESTER ROBINSON was born in Hartwick, NY on August 9, 1833. After an AB from Yale College in 1856, he attended New York Theological Seminary, and was ordained Methodist Episcopal in 1859. His pastorates were short, due to health conditions. He died Sept 21, 1863 in Wellsboro PA, of comsumption (most likely tuberculosis), at the age of 30. His editorship of the hymnal “Hymns and Tunes for Prayer and Social Meetings (1860, reprinted 1864) is noted in Yale College’s History of the Academic Class of 1856, to 1893.
