Buried: Hampstead Cemetery, London, England.
Brother of Walter Macfarren, George was a principal of the Royal Academy of Music; professor at Cambridge University; conductor at Covent Garden, London; program note writer for the Philharmonic Society; and editor of Handel and Purcell. He wrote 18 operas, 13 oratorios and cantatas, 9 symphonies, and 162 songs. He went blind in 1860, and was knighted in 1883.

Died: June 5, 1910, New York City.
Son of Cyrus Earle and Amanda Hedden Ford, Stephen wrote several battle hymns during the American civil war which were sung by Union soldiers. He was a partner in a shirt and collar making company, Ide & Ford, in Troy, New York (1865-72). In his later years, he was known as an author, editor, composer and critic. He was living in Schenectady, New York, in 1908. His works include:

1857 - 1915 Person Name: F. S. Stanton Composer of "[Jesus is our Shepherd]" in The Golden Sheaf Stanton, Frederick S. (New Bedford, Massachusetts, December 20, 1857--October 1, 1915, New Bedford). Held a Bachelor of Music degree and was ordained to the Advent Christian ministry. He held pastorates at Hudson Falls, New York and Lawrence, Mass. Ill health and a final paralysis limited activity in his later years, although he supplied in various churches around New Bedford.
He wrote words and music to a number of hymns, and composed the music for other Advent Christian hymn-writers. He was secretary of the Southern Massachusetts District Conference of his denomination. He contributed to the preparation of several of its hymnals, and was co-editor of The Golden Sheaf (1898), Carols of Hope (1906) and The Advent Christian Hymnal (1913). His obituary, by Willis G. Brown, is in The World's Crisis, 20 October 1915, p. 15.
