Died: May 30, 1859, at his home in St. George’s Street, Can­ter­bu­ry, Kent, Eng­land. A cob­bler and choir train­er, Clark led the sing­ing of the Psalms at the Wes­ley­an Cha­pel, Can­ter­bu­ry, and lat­er at the Uni­tar­i­an Church in Can­ter­bu­ry. It has been claimed he nev­er ac­tu­al­ly joined the Un­i­tar­i­ans, though he sym­pa­thized with them, and he re­signed from the Meth­od­ists. Clark wrote a num­ber of an­thems, in­clud­ing "Awake Up, My Glo­ry", "Daugh­ter of Zi­on" and "Since I Have Placed My Trust." 1800 - 1880 Person Name: Sir John Goss Composer of "WATERSTOCK" in The Presbyterian Book of Praise John Goss (b. Fareham, Hampshire, England, 1800; d. London, England, 1880). As a boy Goss was a chorister at the Chapel Royal and later sang in the opera chorus of the Covent Garden Theater. He was a professor of music at the Royal Academy of Music (1827-1874) and organist of St. Paul Cathedral, London (1838-1872); in both positions he exerted significant influence on the reform of British cathedral music. Goss published Parochial Psalmody (1826) and Chants, Ancient and Modern (1841); he edited William Mercer's Church Psalter and Hymn Book (1854). James V. Lee

1892 - 1959 Person Name: J. V. Lee (1892-1959) Composer of "EASTVIEW" in Hymns for Today's Church (2nd ed.) James Vernon Lee (b. Hove, Sussex, England, 1892; d. Southampton, England, 1959) originally composed EASTVIEW for the text "Rejoice, the Lord Is King" for his mother's eightieth birthday. Lee was an officer in the Brighton Battalion of the Boys' Brigade from 1910 to 1914. After service in the British armed forces during World War I he was the bursar at Caterham College (1919-1939). He also worked as a professional magician, earning the Gold Star of the Magic Circle in 1940. 1834 - 1923 Person Name: E. Bunnett Composer of "KENILWORTH" in The Church Hymnary Edward Bunnet Canada 1834-1923. Born at Shipdham and educated at Norwich Cathedral Choir School, he was a talented chorister, composer, a brilliant organist, and had a sharp sense of humour. He married Emma Elizabeth McGowan in 1890, and they had three children. He became assistant organist at Norwich Cathedral for 22 years and later at St. Peter Mancroft, Norwich, for another 31 years. He was organist for the Norwich triennial Musical Festival for 33 years. Over his life he taught thousands of young people how to play the organ. He composed 16 choral works. John Perry
