1791 - 1871 Author of "The God of peace, who from the dead" in University Hymns Fitch, Eleazar Thompson, D.D. Born at New Haven, Jan. 1, 1791, and graduated at Yale College, 1810. In 1817 he was appointed Professor of Divinity in Yale, and retained the Professorship to 1863. Died Jan. 31, 1871. His published works include Sermons, &c. With Dr. Bacon and others he compiled the Connecticut Congregational Psalms & Hymns, 1845, and contributed to it 3 psalm versions and 3 hymns. Of these the following are in use: (1) "Lord, at this closing hour." (Close of Divine Service. ) This is extensively used in America, and is also found in the English Presbyterian Psalms & Hymns, 1867. (2) "The God of Peace, Who from the dead." b. 1954 Person Name: Liland Brajant Ros' Translator of "Dum ŝafistoj gardis gregon" in TTT-Himnaro Cigneta American Baptist layman. Amateur hymnologist and polyglot. Translator of many hymns into, and author of a few in, Esperanto, as well as some hymns in English. 13 texts (incl. 3 original) in Adoru, plus two in Espero Katolika's supplement. Edited the largest online Esperanto hymnal, TTT-Himnaro Cigneta, now accessible via the Wayback Machine at archive.org, (https://web.archive.org/web/20091021113553/http://geocities.com/cigneto/pretaj.html) as well as in large part here on Hymnary.org. Lives near Seattle.
