Engaging argument! here let me rest With humble confidence and faith intire: What, less than this, can calm my troubled breast? What more can my distrustful heart desire? II. Encouraged by so full, so sweet a word, Fain would my soul forbid intruding fears: To thee, almighty Father, gracious Lord! Fain would I bring my load of anxious cares. III. But can a vile, a guilty creature dare Aspire to hope for favours so divine? Aspire to claim an int'rest in thy care, Or boldly call the glorious blessing mine? IV. O let thy spirit's sacred influence seal The kind assurance to my doubting soul, Thy pard'ning love, thy tender care reveal; The blissful view shall all my fears controul. Languages: English

O God the Holy Spirit

Author: David L. Ward Hymnal: New Hymns of Hope #172 Meter: 7.6.7.6 D Scripture: 1 Peter 5:7 Lyrics: O God the Holy Spirit, eternal one of three, my comforter and teacher, be merciful to me. You hovered over chaos the land and sea to part so manifest your power to calm my restless heart. O God the Holy Spirit, direct me to the cross where I can see the suff'ring my waywardness has cost. In Jesus' death please show me the power of my sin and by his life convince me this battle he will win. O God the Holy Spirit, put Jesus on display: remind me how my Savior took all my guilt away. My sins were all forgiven and satisfaction made; atonement was completed, my captive soul was saved. O God the Holy spirit, come deepen and impart these saving, loving lessons upon my desp'rate heart that I might loathe my evil and flee from Satan's snares then run to my Redeemer and cast on him my cares. Topics: Gospel; Holy Spirt Languages: English Tune Title: HOLY SPIRIT (Ward)
