Gelobt sei Gott! Ja, Amen. The wicked Man's Transgression proves

Appears in 1 hymnal Lyrics: 1 The wicked Man's Transgression proves, He fears not GOD, but Falshood loves; Mischievous Arts conceiving; The crafty Foe, with flatt'ring Lies, His cursed Purpose would disguise, In him there's no believing: But his dark Plots expos'd to Shame, Shall shew his Friendship's but a Name, Whate'er is his Profession; His wakeful Malice spends the Night, In forging his accursed Spite, In Schemes of great Oppression. But Reason whispers to my Heart, No Fear of God's before his Eyes. 2 But, LORD, thy Mercy's, my sure Hope, Thy sacred Truth's unmeasur'd Scope, Beyond the Skies extending; Thy Justice like the Hills remains, Thy Providence the World sustains, All Things on thee depending. Since of thy Goodness all partake, Thy shelt'ring Wings the Saints shall make, A Refuge for protection. Such Guests shall to thy Courts be led, And drink as from a Fountain Head, Of Joys, in full Perfection. 3 Thy Presence is eternal Day, To upright Hearts, O LORD! display, Thy Truth's invalued Treasure; Oh! let thy Saints thy Favour gain! With thee the Springs of Life remain, The Springs of Joy and Pleasure. Whilst they, at me, insulting spurn, Their Mischiefs on themselves return, For thou hast me protected: My harmless Life they would surprize, But down they're fall'n no more to rise, By all Mankind rejected. Topics: Description of Impiety; Prayers Of the Church for her Preservation and Prosperity in all Ages; Songs of Praise to God the Creation and Providence; Thanksgivings For diverse Mercies shown to the Chruch Scripture: Psalm 36 Used With Tune: [The wicked man's transgression proves]

Laudate pueri

Author: W. K. Appears in 2 hymnals First Line: Ye children which do serve the Lord Lyrics: 1 Ye children which do serve the Lord, Praise ye his Name with one accord; Yea blessed be alwayes his Name, Who from the rising of the Sun, Till it returne where it begun, Is to be praised with great fame. The Lord all people doth surmount As for his glory we may count, Above the heavens high to be. With God the Lord who can compare, Whose dwellings in the heavens are, Of such great power and force is he. 6 He doth abase himselfe (we know) Things to behold both here below, And also in the heaven above: 7 The needy out of dust to draw, And eke the poore which help none saw; His mercy only did him move. 8 And so him set in high egree, With Princes of great dignity, That rule his people with great fame. 9 The barren he doth make to beare, And with great joy her fruit to reare, Therefore praise ye his holy Name. Scripture: Psalm 113 Used With Tune: [Ye children which do serve the Lord]

You Righteous, in the Lord Rejoice

Meter: 8.8.6 D Appears in 3 hymnals Lyrics: 1 You righteous, in the Lord rejoice; it well becomes the good man's voice to sing Jehovah's praise. With harp and hymn of gladness sing, your gift of sweetest music bring, to him a new song raise. 2 For upright is Jehovah's word; and all the doings of the Lord in faithfulness are wrought. In justice and in judgment right the Lord does ever take delight; with goodness earth is fraught. 3 Jehovah's word the heav'ns has made, and all the host of them arrayed his breath has caused to be. He rolls the waters heap on heap; he stores away the mighty deep in garners of the sea. 4 Let all the earth Jehovah fear, let all that dwell both far and near in awe before him stand; for, lo, he spoke and it was done, and all, with sovereign pow'r begun, stood fast at his command. 5 He makes the nations' counsels vain, the plans the peoples would maintain are thwarted by his hand. Jehovah's counsel stands secure, his purposes of heart endure, forevermore they stand. 6 O truly is the nation blessed whose God, before the world confessed, Jehovah is alone; and blessed the people are whom he has made his heritage to be, and chosen for his own.
