Neal A. McAulay
b. 1854 Person Name: Rev. N. A. McAulay Author of "Deep Settled Peace" in The Baptist Standard Hymnal McAulay, Neal A. (Nova Scotia, March, 1854--?). Born of Scottish parents "in the English town of Nova Scotia." At age 21 he moved to Boston and from there to Portland, Maine, in 1876. Converted in 1877; went to Chicago in 1882, and entered McCormick Theological Seminary in 1883 (B.D., 1886). Pastorates in Presbyterian churches in Wilton, Iowa (1886-1907) and Lyons, Louisiana (1907-?). In 1889 began writing gospel hymns.

Samuel W. Beazley
1873 - 1944 Person Name: Samuel W. Beazley, 1873- Composer of "[Since I knelt at the cross of my Savior]" in The Baptist Standard Hymnal Samuel W. Beazley was born in Sparta, Virginia in 1873. He was a music scholar and taught music at Shenandoah College for five years. He composed over 4,000 gospel songs during his lifetime. Samuel W. Beazley maintained a successful publishing business in Chicago, Illinois. He died in Chicago on September 16, 1944. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1992.
