Died: March 14, 1884, Northampton, Massachusetts.
Kingsley played the organ at the Old South Church and Hollis Street Church in Boston, Massachusetts. He also taught music at Girard College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, served as music supervisor for public schools in Philadelphia, and compiled a number of music books, including:

1835 - 1910 Composer of "HESPERUS" in The Cyber Hymnal Henry Baker, Mus. Bac., son of the Rev. James Baker, Chancellor of the diocese of Durham; born at Nuneham, Oxfordshire; educated at Winchester School; graduated Bachelor in Music at the University of Oxford in 1867. He also worked as a civil engineer.

1853 - 1928 Person Name: Chas. Edw. Pollock Composer of "FOOSLAND" in The Songs of Zion Charles Edward Pollock USA 1853-1928. Born at Newcastle, PA, he moved to Jefferson City, MO, when age 17. He was a cane maker for C W Allen. He also worked 20 years for the MO Pacific Railroad, as a depot clerk and later as Assistant Roadmaster. He was a musician and prolific songwriter, composing 5000+ songs, mostly used in Sunday school settings and church settings. He took little remuneration for his compositions, preferring they be freely used. He produced three songbooks: “Praises”, “Beauty of praise”, and “Waves of melody”. In 1886 he married Martha (Mattie) Jane Harris, and they had three children: Robert, Edward, and a daughter. He died in Merriam, KS.

1777 - 1844 Person Name: Thomas Campbell, 1777-1844 Alterer of "When Jordan Hushed His Waters Still" in The Cyber Hymnal Campbell, Thomas, the Poet, has little in common with hymnody. A few of his pieces, including," When Jordan hushed its waters still," are found in a limited number of hymnals. His poetical works, The Pleasures of Hope, Gertrude of Wyoming, and others, have been reprinted several times. He was born at Glasgow, 1777; died at Boulogne, 1844, and was buried in Westminster Abbey.

1800 - 1885 Composer of "HARMONY GROVE" in The Seventh-Day Adventist Hymn and Tune Book Henry Kemble Oliver (b. Beverly, MA, 1800; d. Salem, MA, 1885) was educated at Harvard and Dartmouth. He taught in the public schools of Salem (1818-1842) and was superintendent of the Atlantic Cotton Mills in Lawrence, Massachusetts (1848-1858). His civic service included being mayor of Lawrence (18591861) and Salem (1877-1880), state treasurer (1861-1865), and organizer of the Massachusetts Bureau of Statistics and Labor (1867-1873). Oliver was organist at several churches, including Park Street Congregational Church in Boston, North Church in Salem, and the Unitarian Church in Lawrence. A founder of the Mozart Association and several choral societies in Salem, he published his hymn tunes in Hymn and Psalm Tunes (1860) and Original Hymn Tunes (1875).

b. 1842 Person Name: J. W. R. Composer of "[When Jordan hushed her waters still]" in The Everlasting Joy James Weldon Randolph was born October 15, 1842, at Philadelphia, Pa. He attended Northern Liberty and James Bird's Schools. He has given special study to the subjects of music, French, German and Spanish, and received the D.D. degree from Paul Quinncollege. He was converted in 1863 and joined the A. M.E. Chruch the same year. He was licensed to preach and was ordained deacon in 1870 and elder in 1871 at Columbus, Ga. He has held appointments in George, Arkansas, Texas, California, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
