Author of "When the morn is bright and fair" in Good-Will Songs In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

1828 - 1903 Author of "When the morn is bright and fair" in Children's Praise Sophia (Paulina) Taylor Griswold Canada/USA 1828-1903. Born in Canada, she moved to the U.S. and lived in Chicago, IL. She married Dr William R Griswold, a native of New York, and they had one daughter, Eva. She was a poet who wrote hymn lyrics for tunes composed by hymnists George Root, Philip Bliss, George Stebbins and others. She died in Chicago. John Perry

He managed music stores in New York City and Philadelphia, PA., the latter with composer partner, William Fischer. He married Josephine Louisa Barrows, and they had seven children: Blanche, Marie, Ida, John, Josephine, Josephine, and Augusta. He compiled eight religious songbooks from 1846 thru 1869. Pianist, pupil of Grund in Hamburg, and of Bocklet and Sechter in Vienna, and from 1846 of Herz and Halévy in Paris. In 1848 he went to London and became a fashionable teacher, and pianist to the Queen. besides compositions for the violin and violoncello, and pianoforte, he has written many songs.
