Jane Romney Crawford

1883 - 1910 Arranger of "[Father in Heav’n, we do believe]" in Hymns of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Jane Vilate Romney Crawford, also known as Jennie, composed the music for the hymn “Father in Heaven, We Do Believe,” which was included in the 1985 Hymns of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The words were penned by Parley P. Pratt. She also composed music for “The Call” and wrote the words to “We Are the Seagull Girls.” She was born on December 31, 1883, in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory, to Heber John Romney and Kate Ada Ginger. She served as a missionary to the Northern States mission from January 1905 to December 1905. She was set apart by George A. Smith. Later she served from July 1910 to February 1911 in the British Mission wither her husband Alexander Clyde Crawford. She was married to him for six years and filed for divorce due to his failure to provide for her. She died on April 16, 1956.
