C. H. Bottoms

1878 - 1940 Composer of "[The days are swiftly going by]" in The Best Gospel Songs and their composers Claud Henry Bottoms was born on April 13, 1878 in Fayette County, Georgia. He was educated in the public schools and began studying music under J. M. York and later under J. Henry Showalter. After attending two sessions of the Southern Normal Musical Institute (SNMI), he received his diploma at the special session held in Dalton, Georgia, in 1902. He began teaching in 1901, the year his first music was published in Our Thankful Songs. He died on February 2, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia. © The Cyber Hymnal™ (www.hymntime.com/tch)
