Representative Text

1 O sing to the Savior in songs of rejoicing,
Whose grace has redeemed us, whose promise is sure,
A Friend of the friendless, our hope and salvation,
Whose mercy so boundless makes heaven secure.

Chorus:
Joyful praises we sing to Jesus our King,
Adoringly worship the Savior of men,
High in heaven above, the Source of all love,
We’ll praise Him forever and ever, Amen.

2 The earth gleams with sunshine, but brighter is Jesus,
Whose love everlasting illumines our way;
His name like sweet music within our hearts ringing,
With beauty and gladness fills life’s little day. [Chorus]

3 All glory and honor to Christ our Redeemer;
Come worship before Him, whom angels adore,
The praises of Jesus with rapture proclaiming,
Who was, and is now, and shall be evermore. [Chorus]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
