1 مثلما قادَ المجوسْ
نورُ نجمٍ مرشدِ
إذ بدا فوقَ الرؤوسْ
هادياً للمذودِ
هَبْ لمن ضلُّوا المسيرْ
كوكبَ الصبحِ المنيرْ

2 وكما هُم عَبدوا
بالرضا الطفلَ يسوعْ
ولهُ قد سجدوا
بسرورٍ وخشوعْ
ليتما كلُّ أثيمْ
مثلَهمْ يبغي الرحيمْ

3 وكما أهدوا لُبانْ
معَ مُرٍّ وذهبْ
ليتنا في كلِّ آنْ
كلَّ ما لنا نَهَبْ
نقِفُ العمرَ لهُ
شاكرينَ فضلَهُ

4 ربَّنا هَبْ أن نسيرْ
في الطريقِ الضيّقِ
أعطِنا خيرَ النصيرْ
في السما إذ نرتقي
حيث لا تَهدي النجومْ
لا ولا تَغشى الغيومْ

5 ما لنجمٍ في السماءْ
أو لشمسٍ مِن نصيبْ
في العُلى ربُّ العَلاءْ
شمسُ بِرٍّ لا تغيبْ
فلربِّنا المسيحْ

Most British hymn writers in the nineteenth century were clergymen, but William C. Dix (b. Bristol, England, 1837; d. Cheddar, Somerset, England, 1898) was a notable exception. Trained in the business world, he became the manager of a marine insurance company in Glasgow, Scotland. Dix published various volumes of his hymns, such as Hymns of Love and Joy (1861) and Altar Songs: Verses on the Holy Eucharist (1867).
