Come, All Ye People

Author: Americus W. Conner Appears in 9 hymnals Lyrics: Come, all ye people, Come join with saints and angels; Sound forth the praises Of Christ our Lord, once crucified. Sing of His glory, His Gospel preach in every land Till all the nations shall crown Him King eternal. Speak of His love, Of His love for all mankind; Tell how He loved, how He died, How He lives and reigns forevermore. Speak of His love, Of His love for all mankind; Tell how He loved, how He died, How He lives and reigns forevermore. Praise we the Lord, Tho’ a host should encamp against us; In His love, by His power, He shall save us— His name shall we praise forever. Praise we the Lord, Tho’ a host should encamp against us; In His love, by His power, He shall save us— His name shall we praise forever. Blessèd forever Is the Lord of our salvation. Praise Him, men and angels, Sing His praise forevermore. Praise Him; bow before His throne, Victor over death, He dies no more. Reign, Thou mighty Savior, Reigning now in glory, Reign evermore; Blessèd forever Is the Lord of our salvation. Praise Him, men and angels, Sing His praise forevermore. Praise Him; bow before His throne, Victor over death, He dies no more. Reign, Thou mighty Savior, Reigning now in glory, Reign forevermore. Charles F. Gounod

1818 - 1893 Person Name: Chas. Gounod Composer of "[Come, all ye people]" in The King of Kings Charles F. Gounod (b. Paris, France, 1818; d. St. Cloud, France, 1893) was taught initially by his pianist mother. Later he studied at the Paris Conservatory, won the "Grand Prix de Rome" in 1839, and continued his musical training in Vienna, Berlin, and Leipzig. Though probably most famous for his opera Faust (1859) and other instrumental music (including his Meditation sur le Prelude de Bach, to which someone added the Ave Maria text for soprano solo), Gounod also composed church music-four Masses, three Requiems, and a Magnificat. His smaller works for church use were published as Chants Sacres. When he lived in England (1870-1875), Gounod became familiar with British cathedral music and served as conductor of what later became the Royal Choral Society. Bert Polman
