Forward Christ's Battalions

Author: Levi Gilbert, D. D., Litt. D. Hymnal: Hymns for Today #243 (1920) First Line: Forward, Christ's battalions Refrain First Line: Forward, Christ's battalions Lyrics: 1 Forward, Christ’s battalions, Quit yourselves like men; Wielding Gospel weapons, Force the fight again; Yours the strength and daring, Confident and free, Rouse to splendid action, Fervid loyalty! Refrain: Forward, Christ’s battalions, Confident and free; Rouse to splendid action, Fervid loyalty! 2 Mighty reinforcements Thrill the church with cheer; Freshly press the vet’rans, Not a sign of fear; Thinned by age and death-stroke, Ranks fill up with youth; Sons in fathers’ places Stand defending truth! [Refrain] 3 Trusting in your prowess, Home and nation rest; Future ages signal Each to do His best. What are toils and dangers, Marches, wounds, or pain! Christ is near His triumph, You with Him shall reign. [Refrain] Languages: English Tune Title: [Forward, Christ's battalions]
